Billy's Corner
Guitarist, Band Leader, Blues Road Veteran
Billy Crawford is a seasoned blues guitarist and bandleader whose fiery playing and deep musical soul have made him a respected figure in the blues and roots music community. Raised in Bristol, Tennessee, Crawford began his musical journey playing bass in church before gravitating to electric guitar with a passion for blues and rock influences like B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Randy Rhoads and Gary Moore. In the 1990s Crawford’s career took him onto the world stage, most notably as a key member of Deborah Coleman’s band, The Thrillseekers.
For much of that decade, audiences across the U.S., Europe and beyond were introduced to his intense, expressive guitar work as he toured extensively and recorded four albums with Coleman, including contributions to projects on respected labels such as Blind Pig Records. Crawford’s role alongside Coleman wasn’t just musical — he was widely known as her longtime guitarist and even notified the music community of her passing in 2018. After stepping back from full-time touring in 2002 to focus on family life, Crawford returned to his roots in East Tennessee and formed the Billy Crawford Band, bringing his blues, blues-rock, ballads, and roots grooves to clubs, festivals, and listening rooms throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.
With a band built around some of the region’s most gifted players, Crawford continues to push his sound forward while honoring the deep traditions of the blues. Whether ripping through high-energy blues-rock or delivering soulful, heartfelt solos, Billy Crawford remains a living link between classic blues road tradition and the vibrant, ongoing life of American roots music.
